Myelodysplasia (Spina Bifida) Outpatient Service

The Myelosdyplasia Outpatient Service cares for individuals from birth through 18 years of age with Spina Bifida. Spina Bifida is a complex medical problem that requires a variety of specialists who work to prevent complications and maximize the individual's potential.

The team approach

The Myelodysplasia Outpatient Service uses a multidisciplinary team to provide patient care. Spina Bifida patients see a variety of specialists who can provide through health care in one setting. There is no need to make separate appointments to see different specialists.

An individualized program

Following the appointment, the team of specialists work to develop a treatment plan which meets the needs of the individual. Community agency personnel are welcome to attend the meeting. This outpatient service is a supplement to health care and does not replace the care of a family physician. A comprehensive report is sent to the referring physician and to the patients.
