Nutrition Therapy

Nutrition therapy doesn't mean simply losing weight. Nutrition therapy helps promote and manage healthy lifestyles and prevents many life-threatening diseases and conditions, such as diabetes and obesity. Good nutrition can increase consumer's health and well-being, and increase productivity and satisfaction levels through decreased doctor visits, hospitalizations and reduced prescription drug use.

CARE

General Nutrition and Meal Planning

Nutrition is a constantly changing field. It is so closely tied to health, that each year, more knowledge is gained on the connection between eating better and maintaining health and preventing disease. Registered dietitians can provide the most up-to-date nutrition advice based on current research and knowledge. They are best suited to answer questions on nutritional supplements and the quality and balance of food choices.

Nutrition Counseling for Specific Health Conditions

MeritCare's registered dietitians provide nutrition counseling to help adults and children with specific health conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, digestive disorders, etc.

Sports Nutrition

Whether you are training for a marathon or just trying to improve your fitness level, you may benefit from a consultation with a registered dietitian who specializes in sports nutrition. Dietitians can answer questions related to the latest nutrient recommendations and help you adjust your eating to maximize fitness and performance potential. Call (701) 234-2245 or toll free (800) 437-4010 to set up an appointment. No referral is needed.

Weight Management

Diet fads come and go (and often come back again 20 years later!). Many diets can be dangerous and most “diets” can not be followed forever. Getting past the thought of “dieting” is an important step in learning to reach and maintain a healthy weight.

MeritCare dietitians offer weight management options for people seeking assistance with personal weight goals. Individual appointments with a registered dietitian are available to assist in reaching and maintaining a reasonable weight. A physician referral is needed for these appointments.
