Deep Brain Stimulation at MeritCare

Deep Brain Stimulation Deep brain stimulation works by delivering electrical stimulation to precisely-targeted areas on each side of the brain. It begins with a surgical procedure in which the neurosurgeon implants two thin wires into the brain. The thin wires connect to two electric stimulators (they look like pacemakers) surgically implanted in the chest.

MeritCare Parkinson's Clinic offers the wide spectrum of care available to treat Parkinson's disease and Parkinson's-like conditions.
