Pacemaker/Arrhythmia Clinic
The Pacemaker/Arrhythmia Clinic is a nurse-managed clinic that provides follow-up care for patients who have pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators. A team of professionals, under the direction of an electrophysiologist, also provides care for patients who have other heart rhythm disturbances and for patients who may need an event monitor to record their heart rhythm.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program offers supervised exercise therapy and education to people who have experienced a heart attack, heart surgery or have heart disease. The program has three phases and is based on the individual needs of the patient.
Cardiovascular Health Program
The goal of this program is to help patients who have cardiac or vascular disease manage their risk factors and lifestyle to reduce their risk of future heart or circulation problems.
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Clinic
The Congestive Heart Failure Clinic is a nurse-managed clinic, which closely monitors and helps patients who have CHF, a progressive disease that requires close monitoring and follow-up. A team of professionals monitors the care of patients and coordinates both inpatient and outpatient services.
Lipid Clinic
The Lipid Clinic is a nurse-managed clinic, which monitors patients with elevated cholesterol levels. The goal is to provide cholesterol education, nutritional education and monitoring of cholesterol levels.
Inpatient Services
MeritCare Heart Center has two inpatient care units that provide the full continuum of services for heart patients while they are in the hospital. A multidisciplinary team approach ensures optimal care. Services include case management, discharge planning, education, social services, pastoral care and post-discharge linkages to follow-up care. Families are encouraged to remain actively involved with the team.
