OLDER ADULT FITNESS PROGRAM
More and more physicians are recommending regular exercise to older individuals, particularly those with arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, diabetes and other chronic conditions.
The Older Adult Fitness Program makes it easier for seniors over age 62 to safely get the exercise they need.
Our comprehensive, monitored program is designed to improve:
- Cardiovascular fitness
- Strength
- Flexibility
- Stabilization
- Balance
- Overall wellness
Individual programs are based on physician recommendations, risk factors and personal interests, with elements of the
Lifelong Fitness Program and group exercise classes designed specifically for seniors. Medical clearance from a doctor is required for participation.
If you've been intimidated by exercise classes in the past, give our program a try. If you prefer exercising on your own, you may pursue an individualized fitness program, as well.
How the Program Works
Enrolling in the Program is as easy as 1-2-3.
- Initial Consultation, facility tour and confidential discussion regarding medical history, personal goals and questions or concerns. It also includes a comprehensive health risk assessment. This appointment is free and allows you to decide which program is appropriate for you.
- Initial Evaluation of overall cardiovascular health, muscle strength, endurance and flexibility, along with blood pressure and body composition. This information is used to assess your current physical capabilities and establish guidelines for your exercise program.
- Instructional Sessions on various exercise methods and techniques needed to begin a safe and progressive exercise program. These sessions will include:
- Warm-up
- Aerobic conditioning
- Strength training exercises
- Range of motion work
- Stabilization exercises
Three such sessions are included with the program.
