Medical education and training:
Dr. Monson received his medical degree from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion and completed a residency in general surgery at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. He is board certified in general surgery. This means that he has fulfilled the necessary criteria established by the regulating board and has passed examinations that accredit him in the field of surgery. Dr. Monson joined MeritCare in 1994.
Off duty interests and activities:
Dr. Monson and his wife, Jenni, have three daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, woodworking and mystery novels.
