Occupational therapy is the process of working with individuals to help them develop, recover or maintain their daily living and work skills. Occupational therapists works closely with other specialists involved in the patient’s care to ensure the best outcome for the patient. Experienced and knowledgeable staff offer innovative therapy programs and strive to provide a continuum of care from initial hospitalization, to outpatient therapy through follow-up care.

CARE

Understanding Occupational Therapy

An occupation is defined by occupational therapists as anything a person does during their day that has meaning and a purpose. This may include dressing, bathing, eating, household chores, working, play, leisure and much more. Depending on the needs of the patient, occupational therapy may be provided in the hospital, clinic or home setting.

Inpatient Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists provide therapy services to hospitalized patients to increase their independence with everyday living tasks so that they can return to the community safely and as independently as possible.

Outpatient Occupational Therapy

Outpatient programs are available to assist patients as they transition from the hospital to the home setting and for other patients needing occupational therapy to meet their health needs.

Team Approach to Care

Occupational therapy is provided by registered occupational therapists and certified occupational therapy assistants who work closely with the rehabilitation team to provide the best possible outcome for the patient.
