Executives	Administration
Supervisors	Primarily Coordinators, most leads are in their peer category, i.e. lead med tech, lead occupational therapist, lead service area assistant.
Medical Prof.	Pharmacist, PT, OT, Technologists, MSW, CRNA, Dietitian, RT, etc.
Managers	Anyone with the title manager and others such as House Administrator. Occupations requiring administrative and managerial personnel who set broad policies, exercise overall responsibility for execution of these policies, and direct individual departments or special phases of a firm’s operations.
Professionals	Occupations requiring either college graduation or experience of such kind.
Non-med Prof.	Analyst, Specialist (except for Office Specialist which is clerical) Librarian, Accountant
Physicians/Midlevels	Physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
Technical	Technician title (except for CPD), Nurse Intern, Student, Ophthalmic Asst., COTA.
Craftworker	Electrician, Plumber, Mechanic, Printer, Graphic Designer, Baker
Service Worker	Food services, Environmental. services, Transport, Sitter, Security Officer, Caterer, Cashier
Nurse Asst.	All nurse assistants and patient care assistants.
Technicians	Occupations requiring a combination of basic scientific knowledge and manual skill which can be obtained through two years of post high school education, such as is offered in many technical institutes and junior colleges, or through on-the-job training.
Office and Clerical	Administrative support occupations, including all clerical-type work regardless of level of difficulty, where the activities are predominately nonmanual. Some manual work not directly involved with altering or transporting the products is included.
Operatives (Semiskilled)	Workers who operate transportation or materials moving equipment, or who operate machine or processing equipment, or who perform other factory-type duties of intermediate skill level which can be mastered in a few weeks and require only limited training. Includes apprentices in such fields as auto mechanics, plumbing, bricklaying, carpentry, building trades, metal working trades, and printing trades.
Laborers (Unskilled)	Handlers, equipment cleaners, helpers and other workers in manual occupations which generally require no special training and who perform elementary duties that may be learned in a few days and require the application of little or no independent judgment. Farm workers (laborers) are placed here, as well as farming, forestry and fishing occupations not elsewhere covered.

Full-time	An associate hired for a position scheduled for 64 to 80 hours per pay period. Associates in this status receive full-time benefits.
Part-time	An associate hired for a position scheduled for 32 to 63 hours per pay period. Associates in this status receive part-time benefits.
Minimum Part-time	An associate hired for a position scheduled for one to 31 hours per pay period. Associates in this status are not benefit eligible but do accrue PTO on hours worked and are eligible to participate in the pension plan based on plan requirements.
Per Diem	An associate hired for a position with no scheduled hours. Associate in Per Diem status must work a minimum of 144 hours in a twelve-month period to be monitored by the manager. Associates in this status are not benefit eligible, but are eligible to participate in the pension plan based on plan requirements.
Per Diem II	An associate hired for a position with no scheduled hours but must commit to the following: Work a minimum of 16 hours per pay period Work one weekend per month Work two holidays per year, one being a major holiday (as defined by the Service Area manager) Associates in this status receive a 10% premium for all hours worked. Associates in this status are not benefit eligible, but are eligible to participate in the pension plan based on plan requirements.
Flexible Status	An associate hired for a position scheduled for 32 to 64 hours per pay period who agrees to have a net of two shifts per pay period added or cancelled. The addition or cancellation of hours is based on the current FTE on the individual's employment record. An associate in this classification can be assigned to work any shift but no more than every other weekend and: Is paid 5% premium for all hours worked, including overtime hours. Is paid the hourly rate for all other paid hours such as paid time off, disability, orientation and meetings. Associates in this status are eligible for full-time benefits.
Weekend Status	This status is for the purpose of providing improved weekend coverage and is available for specific designated positions only. An associate hired for a position scheduled for a minimum of two twelve hour shifts or three eight hour shifts every weekend (48 hours/pay period). The definition of a weekend is those shifts worked between 3:00 p.m. Friday and 7:00 a.m. Monday. The associate is: Paid regular rate plus $5.00 for each hour worked on the designated weekend. Paid regular rate, subject to overtime guidelines, for hours worked during the week. Paid regular rate for all other paid hours such as PTO, disability, orientation, meetings, etc. Associates will be granted up to three (3) weekends off per year, excluding funeral, hospitalization and disability leave time. All holidays that fall on a weekend must be worked. Only one weekend of PTO may be scheduled during the months of June, July and August. Weekend status associates will not be required to work holidays that do not fall on the weekend. It is the responsibility of the manager to monitor associate compliance with the requirements of this status. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in removal from this status. Associates in this status are eligible for full-time benefits.
Temporary	An associate hired for a specific, short-term job up to six months or for the duration of a specific project, with the exception of the internal, temporary agency nurse group. Temporary status includes any student that is a paid associate at MeritCare. If a temporary associate accepts a scheduled hour position without a break in service, the time worked in the temporary position is credited to the associate for the purpose of computing future benefits in the scheduled hour position. The associate date of hire is the date hired into the temporary position. Associates in this status are not eligible for benefits.
