As part of the health systems category, jobs.meritcare.com was compared to some of the largest health care organizations in the nation. Best Employee Recruitment is a new award; judges looked at how well sites promote the advantages of working for the organization and how clear and easy is it to review job openings and apply.

jobs.meritcare.com includes many unique and user-friendly features that set it apart:
  • Interactive application process – Once applicants have created a resume, they can log back in at anytime to edit their resume or ensure that it's been submitted for a specific opening.

  • Tailored search options – The site allows visitors to quickly search by category and by newly posted positions.

  • Complete job descriptions – Job descriptions are extensive including duties, licensure, education requirements and salary ranges.

  • Proactive job search – Applicants can tell the system what career they are interested in, such as pediatric nursing, and receive an e-mail when positions become available.

  • Targeted career information – The site includes comprehensive information specific to growing a career as a nurse and as a doctor.

Harriette McCaul, MeritCare's executive partner of Human Resources and Learning Services says, "Having this tool available for people who are interested in working at MeritCare has been invaluable. It's enabled us to streamline the application process internally and our external applicants tell us that it is much easier to navigate and find the best job."

eHealthcare says, "This leading awards program exclusively recognizes the very best Web sites of healthcare organizations, online health companies, pharmaceutical/medical equipment firms, suppliers, and business improvement initiatives. These awards highlight the Internet's role in achieving an organization's business objectives and recognize the hard work that has gone into creating outstanding health Web sites."
