MeritCare Health System is a not-for-profit integrated health care system headquartered in Fargo, N.D. Founded in the early 1900s as Fargo Clinic and St. Luke's Hospital, MeritCare has a rich 100-year history of community involvement and social accountability, including patient-focused care, regional outreach and the commitment to serve all who enter our doors.

State-of-the-Art Facilities Close to Home

In 2008, MeritCare Health System will celebrate our commitment to providing quality, state-of-the-art care designed to meet the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of patients and their families for 100 years.

In the summer of 2002, we embarked on the largest facility project in our history: a five-year, $55 million renovation effort of the downtown MeritCare Medical Center campus. Our new facility, which opened in August 2005, emphasizes family-centered care and allows us to continue providing easy access to state-of-the-art medical and emergency care for many years to come. The project included the addition of a common, north-facing entrance for both the hospital and clinic, along with a four-level addition to our Hospital and Heart Center and two-tier parking deck for visitor and patient parking.

Over the years, we have grown and acquired medical facilities to care for patients throughout the region. Our commitment to caring for the health of patients and their families is at the center of everything we do.

A Healing Environment

As we renovate facilities, our goal is to focus on creating an environment of healing, from color and texture to sound-absorbing material, from natural light inside to the plants and healing gardens outside. Beyond the physical amenities, we're adopting additional practices that increase privacy for our patients and their families and give them more control over their healing. MeritCare Main Entrance
