Donation Policy


The MeritCare donation policy is to demonstrate fiscal stewardship as a not-for-profit organization. As such, MeritCare Health System generally will not contribute funds to other organizations or projects with the following possible exceptions:

  1. Annual contributions are made to United Ways in the communities in which MeritCare has a regional center. MeritCare associates contributed $220,861 to the 2004-05 United Way Campaign.
  2. Support or in-kind services may be provided for health-related projects or services in which we are a partner or participant.

Funding requests will not be considered for the following:

  1. Programs designed to influence legislation.
  2. Team sponsorships.
  3. Golf tournaments.
  4. Requests from outside MeritCare's service area.
  5. Requests from for-profit organizations.
  6. Requests from organizations that receive United Way funds.
  7. Requests for capital fund drives.
  8. Requests to support ongoing operations of another agency or program.
  9. Non-health related projects.

All requests for donations are handled through MeritCare Community Benefit. All advertising requests should be directed to MeritCare Marketing Services.
